Cutting out all forms of meat and dairy produce from our diet has become more than just a passing fad for many people. It is a way of life. And those that have turned vegetarian or even vegan swear by the results. As their numbers continue to rise, we see more and more businesses catering to their needs.

And now, we even have apps for vegetarians and vegans, which range from giving directions to and information about the nearest vegetarian restaurant to providing the user with numerous healthy meat and dairy-free recipes to try at home.

Below are four interesting apps that you might like to try if you don’t eat meat or dairy products or are even just thinking about following that way of life in the near future.

Vegan Way

If you are tired of searching for restaurants that offer their clients vegan meals, Vegan Way will help you. It is easy-to-use and helps you find the vegan restaurants closest to where you are. For any restaurants that you like, you can add them to your favourites list, or to your wishlist if it’s one that you hope to try in the near future.

I’m Hungry: Vegetarian Recipes

This is a great app if you want to recreate your favourite vegetarian dishes from all over the world in your own kitchen. Browse through hundreds of recipes from different cuisines such as Mexican, Japanese, Indian, Italian, Spanish, Thai, Chinese, Middle Eastern and French, and then follow the link that gives you the ingredients and instructions on how to make them. You can save and share the recipes that you like the most, and browse by type of cuisine or dish category. Recipes are also added on a regular basis.

Bunny Free

Bunny Free is an app that has been designed and created by PETA (Persons for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). It allows you to search for companies and tells you whether they test on animals or not. You can browse through the database and find out which brands are cruelty-free and you can even scan a product’s barcode to find out what the company’s testing policies are.

Is it Vegan?

This is a great app for anyone who wants to completely eliminate animal and dairy products from their diet. All you have to do is scan a product via its barcode and the app will tell you whether it is vegan, vegetarian or neither. It will also list the ingredients and say which ones are vegan and which ones aren’t.
