Guardamar del Segura
Anyone who visits Guardamar can’t fail to be charmed by this typical Mediterranean village. Its promenade along the front provides you with panoramic views of the sea and long stretches of sand. The sand dunes can be deserted in the cooler months and with the sea on one side and the natural park on the other it’s as close to paradise as most of us will get.
A feature that many people particularly enjoy is Guardamar’s central park. With peacocks and play equipment that blends into its surroundings, it is a perfect place to cool down in the warmer summer months. Children love it too. Keep an eye on them though in the bustling Wednesday morning market. It takes over the town centre and you’ll be tempted to pick from its succulent selection of fruits.
Guardamar does its fiestas and processions particularly well. If you can, you must take in the Moors and Christians parade in July. This is a fabulous procession that takes place all over Spain. However, Guardamar does it particularly well and you will be entranced by the range of costumes and colours that will pass you by.
Perhaps, the icing on the cake is how close Guardamar is to Alicante airport. Only 25 minutes away, although we know you won’t want to leave.
