The American rock legend that is Bruce Springsteen is still going strong, and his touring and passion for music aren’t showing any signs of letting up.
And, two years since his last tour in 2014, The Boss is about to kick off with a new European tour, The River Tour 2016, by playing his first dates in Spain in May.
The first concert will take place in Barcelona on 14 May at the Camp Nou football stadium, home to Barcelona F.C.
The second performance will take place three days later at the Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastián (Basque Country), and the final concert is being held, somewhat controversially, at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid on 21 May.
The third concert coincides with the final of the Copa del Rey football championship, where Barcelona and Sevilla will go head to head in a battle to lift the winner’s trophy.
Both teams voiced that they would have preferred the final of the championship to take place at the home ground of Real Madrid F.C., as it is the biggest neutral stadium and would generate greater revenue. Nevertheless, Real Madrid fans are happy with the decision not to hold the game at the Bernabéu, as they would hate to see their biggest rivals take the championship and lift the cup in their beloved ground.
The River Tour 2016 began on 16 January in Pittsburgh, but the concert in Barcelona heralds the start of Springsteen’s trek around Europe.
The start of this new tour coincided with the launch of The Ties That Bind: The River Collection. Box Set. And, the original tour began on 3 October 1980, two weeks before the launch of The River.
Tickets for the Spain concerts will go on sale from March. They will be available from each of the stadiums from 10 a.m. as follows:
Barcelona: 1 March
San Sebastián: 4 March
Madrid: 8 March
You will also be able to purchase them from Ticketmaster.es.
