Spain's new interactive website to promote tourism
  • The new site allows the visitor to book everything required to travel to Spain including flights and accommodation
  • The site is easy-to-use, visually attractive and interactive
  • It offers new ideas for those looking for something different

Spain’s minister for Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, formally launched the new official website for tourism in Spain this week after a complete remodel and restructure of the former site in a bid to make it more in line with how today’s travellers plan their holidays.

The new website, www.spain.info, has been created so that tourists can plan and book everything related to their holiday on the one site.

Travel

It is possible to book flights, train journeys, accommodation and even tickets for tourist attractions, shows, restaurants and other activities that are available at the chosen destination.

The database contains 20,000 accommodation options, so there is ample choice catering for all budgets and requirements. And for each category including flights and hotels, there is a price comparison tool and search option that links to travel agents, airlines and accommodation establishments.

New ideas

Not only that, but the site offers the tourist new ideas on the types of holiday possible, which is particularly useful when unsure of where to go, what to do or if you want to try something different.

As the new site is so visually eye-catching, with hundreds of photographs, visitors to the site will be more likely to browse for longer, which in turn could lead them to discover facts about Spain that they didn’t know and wish to find out more about.

In addition to promoting the traditional beach holidays taken up by the majority of visitors to Spain, the site also offers other ideas such as city breaks, inland destinations, gastronomic and nature holidays and it even shows where to go for shopping and nightlife.

All you need to know

Also on the site is a section with travel tips and practical advice on topics such as commercial opening hours, transport, health and safety, the climate, fiestas, sporting and musical events, driving in Spain and money-related information.

Made to measure

A new and innovative feature of the site is the option that allows the user to select his profile (family, senor citizen, young person) together with the reason for travelling to Spain (sport, beach, nightlife) and the site will come up with a number of choices of where to go based on the inputted information.

Social interaction

Nowadays tourists like to be better informed before they travel to a destination and the current trend is to make use of the all the social networking sites, forums and opinion websites where previous visitors have left their own review of their experience. This new site offers the same so that visitors can leave comments, upload photos and videos and share their experience with others.

Maximum exposure

In a bid to attract visitors from traditional markets plus new ones such as Brazil, Russia or China, the website is available in 18 different languages.
