This is the second time that this small Spanish island has hit the headlines in the space of a week. And with this latest piece of news, it may well be that the Canary Island of Lanzarote, just off the coast of west Africa, becomes a magnet for a greater number of tourists, especially Justin Bieber fans.
It has been reported by the real-estate company Proto Group that Canadian pop star Justin Bieber has just snapped up a stunning six-bedroom five-bathroom luxury villa on the island.
The star had been spending some down time on the island with his new girlfriend, Sofia Richie, daughter of singer/songwriter Lionel Richie, and he fell in love with the island.
Deciding that he wanted his own getaway on the island, he contracted Proto Group to find him somewhere suitable.
Top of his wish list for the property was that it was a “quiet place with absolute privacy”.
The villa opted for by the music superstar is totally isolated and has an area of 2,000 square metres. There are six bedrooms, five bathrooms and direct access to the sea.
The singer was so enamoured with the property and had to have it at all costs that he paid 5 million euro for it when the asking price was only 4.2million.
